AL'S COMMENTS: When you're busy following your bliss, taking chances with life, limb and love, sometimes you fall, and fall hard. But it's worth it.
I wrote this song when I awakened in sadness one morning, empty of self-confidence, without hope, but not without faith. I remembered at that point to pray, and I wrote this song.
I love J.T.'s piano and organ on this song. He so beautifully captured the emotional space I was in as I wrote the song that morning.

When the money's running out
When the car doesn't start
When everybody's fighting
And nobody's home
That's when my heart begins to doubt
Feels like time is running out
And I'm doubting the ground on which I stand
That's when I fear to turn the page
I get conscious of my age
So I'll burn a little sage and I'll pray
I need you now
I need you now
I need you now
When I'm afraid to open up
Cause I hate to complain
And I'm desperate and I'm needy
And I don't know who I am
That's when my heart begins to doubt
Feels like time is running out
And I'm doubting the ground on which I stand
That's when I fear to turn the page
I get conscious of my age
So I'll burn a little sage and I'll pray
I need you now
I need you now
Because my heart begins to doubt
Feels like time is running out
And I'm doubting the ground on which I stand
That's when I fear to turn the page
I get conscious of my age
So I'll burn a little sage and I'll pray
I need you now
I need you now
I need you now
